First time visitors to Kuala Lumpur often struggle to find the best available accommodation choices due to a whole range of factors. First of all, Kuala Lumpur is massive. If you choose a hotel without looking into its specific location, it could cost you literally hours in traffic jams in the downtown core on a daily basis. Actually, you don’t even have to be staying in downtown Kuala Lumpur to find yourself right in the middle of these ‘notoriously famous’ bottlenecks. Another factor that makes it challenging to find the right hotel in Kuala Lumpur is simple the fact that there are so many! According to the largest hotel booking site in the region there are just short of 1000 accommodation choices to select from. Many of these choices, however, are spread throughout the Klang Valley and not simply in downtown KL. Therefore, a hotel might be highly rated by business travelers due to its services, but it is in an inconvenient location for tourists that need to rely continuously on public transportation.
Fortunately, for tourists visiting Kuala Lumpur, there are excellent bargains available for mid-range to high-end hotels. Actually, we argue that Kuala Lumpur’s reputable hotels are a superb deal in comparison to what you get in North America and Europe, and other prominent Asian cities such as Singapore and Hong Kong.  So to make it a bit easier for our readers to select the right hotel in Kuala Lumpur we have decided to classify our recommendations for you. Some of the choices below might not suit what you are looking for, but hopefully this can point you in the right direction.
Combination of Top Location and View: Traders Hotel by Shangri-La
Year after year of looking at guest reviews, we have come to the conclusion that Traders Hotel by Shangri-La has the ‘million dollar view’ in Kuala Lumpur. Why you might ask? Well, many of its rooms offer a jaw-dropping unobstructed view of the world famous Petronas Twin Towers (among other things). It is located right in the heart of downtown Kuala Lumpur which eliminates the annoying need to hire taxis all the time. If money isn’t an issue, then this is a rock solid choice in Kuala Lumpur. Just be sure to purchase a room with a tower view.
Colonial Charm: The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur
Located close to KL Sentral, the appealing Kuala Lumpur Railway Station and Merdeka Square, The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur is full of colonial charm. It might not offer the same quality of views as Traders by Shangri-La, but it is more affordable and located in an appealing area of the city. If you are up for walking it is actually quite easy to see landmarks around the city from this hotel. The Majestic Hotel Kuala Lumpur is consistently rated around 8.9/10 on leading hotel sites, making it only one of the top-rated hotels in all of Kuala Lumpur.

Combination of Best Price and Location: Pacific Regency Hotel Suites
The Pacific Regency Hotel Suites could be one of the best priced hotels that we have ever seen, anywhere. A quick search at the time of writing clearly shows that a superior suite is priced at $56.19 USD. Considering the high quality of their rooms, this hotel gets fantastic reviews. The rooms are very spacious the staff are welcoming. In our humble opinion, they could probably get well over $100 USD for their rooms but there is lots of competition in Kuala Lumpur so business is always a struggle. The Pacific Regency Suites is also located in a top-notch area of the city. It is immediately adjacent to KL Tower and 10 minutes by foot to the Petronas Twin Towers and Bukit Bitang.  If you don’t like the view from your room, they also have a pretty-chilled out sky bar.
Best Budget Option: Suzie’s Guesthouse, KL
It can be quite a challenge to find a cheap accommodation option in Kuala Lumpur that is clean, safe and rated highly by guests. Of the hundreds of guesthouses and hostels in Kuala Lumpur, most get negative reviews from backpackers. Suzie’s Guesthouse, KL is an exception to this trend. Conveniently located in Chinatown, this is a solid budget option if you are trying to conserve your money while in Kuala Lumpur. As of the time of writing, a private room for two with breakfast included costed $16.87. Not bad for downtown KL!
If none of the above options seem to work for you here is a short list of hotels in Kuala Lumpur that are consistently rated above 8.5/10 by visitors on leading hotel sites: Ritz Carlton Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Mandarin Oriental Kuala Lumpur, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur Hotel, and Shangri-La Hotel.

Hi Dorie,
Thanks for your inquiry. Both of the hotels you have stated are in pretty good locations for walking around downtown. Based on the reviews on our affiliate partner sites, they both score similar reviews (average). Neither one tends to get outstanding reviews, but they seem like okay budget choices for downtown Kuala Lumpur if you want a private room for under 100 RM
Could you give me an insights with the citin hotel in masjid jamek or the citin seacare in pudu? Which one should you recommend to me?
